Default RE: 870 Express Super Magnum

I have the 835 (24" barrel)and I really love it for turkey hunting I have it for 12 years, never a problem, with the factory turkey choke I'm using 3.5"Winchester Surprems HV #5 and getting really good patterns, but there is always room for improvement, so looks like I will be getting a Indian Creek turkey choke and using 3.5"HeviShot 13 2-1/4 #5

My friend has the 870 fully camo (26" barrel), he paid $365 at Gander Mountain, he put in a Remingtion brand turkey choke (super full) using the same Winchester Ammo as me, he killed a bird at 50 yards last week. His gun is heavier then mine, he likes the camo on the Mossberg better. If it wasn't for the feel he would of gotten the Mossberg, the Remington just felt better.

If I was going to purchase another turkey only shotgun in a pump I might go with the 870 just because I have a 835. But remember the 835 is overbored, like having a bull barrel so to speak, the 835 was the first true 3.5" chamber. You need to compare them side by side, see what you like better, what feels better. Either one you choose is a WIN!!!! Best of luck
