I still have both of mine as well,i have a 2-play and a 4-play but i do not recall them ever being spring loaded. It' s been 4-5 years since i have used mine(shooting recurves now)so i may have forgotten. If you want i can scan and send you the instruction manual if you don' t have one.Let me know, Footed Shaft
