RE: Honest Question: Cow hunts.
When I was a kid, we always had a beef steer at all times. I remember one in particular (his name was "Chuck" [8D]) when I was in junior high school had gotten loose in the middle of the night, and my father chased the thing all day long, and it was still loose when I got home from school for the day. When I got home I went and found my dad as he was chasing it on the neighbors property and he asked me to head to the house to get the .06.............it was time to quit trying to catch this thing. It was supposed to head to slaughter in a few weeks anyhow and it just wasn't worth chasing anymore. I actually was presented with a clear 40 yard shot on the way back to my Dad with the rifle and shot him (head shot) and dropped him in a pile. Let me tell you.........it was more work to get that thing out of there than any animal I have ever taken. I can only imagine what it is like to have to pack out a moose or elk.......it was no fun at all.
So in short.......no......I have no desire to shoot another cow. I didn't mind slaughtering the animalbut didn't find any thrill or amusement in it at all. If I had to do it again I would but I certainly wouldn't volunteer for it.
