every piece of the animal gets used by the locals. Portions of the days kills are brought back to the hunting lodge and are prepared for the hunters. Unfortunately none of the meat from any of the animals can be brought back to the US. My stepdad has gone to South Africa twice and has also shot a giraffe. At first ill admitt it did sound strage becasue we look at them as something other than a game species. He said that his giraffe was his most challenging hunt. They can see you coming fromalong way off and when they spot you and turn and run they can coveenormous distances. I didnt catch the tv show, but let me tell you they are tough to hunt.

I persionally dont understand my stepdad. I have never understood why someone would need to travel around the world to hunt when there are wonderful game species here in the states. He has never been on an elk hunt or mule deer hunt. Heck the trophy fees on the giraffe and the lion he shot was $10,000. Then the Taxidermist is charging another $10,000 for a shoulder mount of the giraffe and full body mount of the lion. For me I would rather put that $20,000 into hunting elk for years to come. But then to each his own
