I have owned 3 454's all Ruger Super Redhawks. The one I own now has a 7.5" barrel. I did own one with the 9.5" barrel but I prefer the shorter.
With the factory wood grips you probably will not want to shoot 200 full powerrounds in a single shooting session but may be quite comfortable with 45C ammo then ending up with a couple of boxes of full power stuff. I use Uncle Mikes shooting gloves when shooting 454 ammo.
You will be quite pleased with the accuracy of the Ruger.
