I have used a number and it is really hard to tell someone else what is the best for them. I agree the 25-06 is a good deer gun, as is the 270 win, 308 and so on. My personal favorite right now is the 7 mm rem mag, plenty of power, flat and tolerable recoil make it an excellent all arounder for my area & mio
