Ist Bat 2nd Mar 2nd Marine Division -- 1959-1963 . Never saw combat . The closest was being aboard ship , ready to go into Cuba ( or Cuber , as President Kennedy called it ) during the Cuban Missile Crisis . Got out before Viet Nam got started .........
Made two Mediterrian Cruises and did some training in Vieques , Puerto Rico .
I remember those days Ed, Only I was in grade school, they would have bomb drills where we would have to leave class and hide in the fallout shelter.
