I am brand new to this site. Years ago I purchased a Kimber of America M96 SWEDEN sporterized. This rifle is chambered in .308. I have been reading up on it a little and I have found that some people believe that this rifle may be dangerous because it was not built to be chambered in .308 and therefore cannot stand the pressure. I have hunted with it for years and I have never had a problem with it. However I have only fired it a couple of dozen times. I am not nearly as learned as some of you and I value your opinions. What do you think? Thank you, Chris
While perhaps not the best possible selection of an action for chambering to high-intensiuty rounds like the .243 or .308 Win., the metallurgy of the Swdish mauser is not suspect like some of the M98's which were produced all ver the world, sometimes of questionable materials.

In addition, Kimber was always a reputable firm, which would not have taken a chance by selling faulty products.

I believe that if you stick to factory ammunition or reasonable handloads, and do not try to hotrod any loads you may make up for it, you should have no troubles at all. I would not be hesitant to use it atall.
