I have both of their free DVD's and they are excellent. Barnes makes excellent bullets, no doubt in my mind, if you can get them to shoot in your gun. The Savage guys have had great accuracy with the Barnes Origonal 300g .458 rifle bullet with a .452 crushed rib sabot, myself included. The folks who shoot BP guns have had great accuracy and killing power with the Barnes MZ and the TMZ, especially the Knight brand with the Knight sabot. Myself I shot the Barnes Flat Nosed .458 rifle bullet Barnes Part number 45832 witha BCR sabot in my Savage and got this group:

and I have shot the Barnes Origonals 300g with BCR, MMP Orange and 3 Petal EZ and got this group:

I will shoot the Barnes Origonals with CR for elk, since they have a higher BC and they are accurate to 200, as reported over on the Savage Forum. All my shooting is at 100, since I don't have a 200 yard range. I will have to do that before this summer.

From my research, here are the Barnes Bullets that should work in most MLers along with the sabot and the BC of the bullet, the Barnes Part number is included also:

Barnes #45105 275g XPB BC of .141, usiing HPH12
Barnes Expander MZ 300g #45131 BC .207, using HPH12
Barnes Origonal 300g #457010 Spitzer SP BC .291, using MMP Orange or BCR
Barnes X-bullet 300g XFN 45832 BC .204, using MMP Orange or BCR
Barnes X-bullet 300g FB 45802 BC .235, using MMP Orange

They are awsome bullets, no fragmentation, deep penetration, excellent expanson at all angles and shoot thru. In my mind the perfect "balanced bullet"---a term from the book "Rifle Bullets for the Hunter, a Definitive Study". Randy Wakeman likes the XPB and several other Barnes bullets and he has some nice groups and kills over on his Randywakeman.com site, you should check it out because he gives sabot combos over there also. Bottom line, Barnes Bullets work!I am NOT trying to start a bullet war between Barnes and any otherbrand of bullet--I personally shoot Nosler and Speer Gold Dot also, I am merely telling a person whom I consider new toBarnes Bullets what I know about them and pointing to other content on the Internet that will help in his education on these excellent bullets. Oh, I am not trying to start a RW war either, if you don't like him for whatever reason pleasedon't push back on me becuse his site is GOOD on many topics, including Barnes. He is very comprehensive on Savage and Barnes.

Best Wishes on your bullet select. Chap
