Default RE: Morning or Afternoon, which do you feel is more difficult ?

I belive that the morning hunt is harder because of the hens, later in the day when the hens are laying on their nest, the Tom is still,,,,,,Ready,,, to do his thang!

As for the time of the year, it depends on the weather and what not. We have a split turkey season with 6 little seasons all 5 days long each. started yesterday and goes threw end of may. I like first week in may, seems some hens are laid up and the Tom's are not to call shy.

Well when I got home yesterday morning my mom was already out and just up the road about 400 yards or so. she told me she was working a bird with 3 hens and had to go. So I wait out side and listen for the shot and within 5 minutes after the phone call BOOM!!! one minute after that I get a phone call, and she blasted the bird she was pusuing. She had to call loud because of the wind and she said that this bird was mounting another hen when she called really loud and he goobled while doing the deed, then took off running right for my Mother, he was gobbling the whole way and she shot him on a dead run right sreight at her 12 yards. 10 1/2 inch beard, 23 1/2 pounds, 15/16 inch spurs.
