I think in clear water they'd work. (they use them for gigging flounders) Probably not enough cast in murky water to be useful for bowfishing.

You'd really have to be careful with the stumps, sticks and rocks. And if your arrowed fish are anything like mine, they're going to head straight for those lights and get tangled up around them.
