RE: The first call I make during my first spring gobbler hunt.......
I did not use a decoy. I figured since I am new, that improperly using a decoy would be worse than none at all. Maybe I am wrong. He didn't gobble at all, and I lost him in flight about 60 yards away as he "touched down" somewhere.
I barely struck the box call...figuring I would rather hunt passively than aggressively. I am not really good with the call, but have watched some hunting videos and immitate the calls fairly well. But again, I have no idea when to use certain calls or even what "turkey language" means....I just need alot of help, but I can tell when a gobbler gets into view that I am going to be pumped just like the first time I had a deer in my view.
Kyle...it was really cool becuase I was on steep hill, maybe 5 stories high, looking over a creek and large flat area. I think he was sitting up high looking over a large expanse to monitor the area....but maybe I am wrong?
