I worked til 11:30pm on Sunday night but I forced myself to get up pre-dawn on Monday morning to experience my first turkey hunt with bow in hand.....I sneak into where I think they are roosting(actually I am so inexperienced I have no idea). I set-up, sun comes up....I hit the call AND BOOM a big gobbler flies out of a pine tree not more than 20 yards away!! HAHAHAAHA! It scared the hell out of me. Five more hours later and not a single sound or sight of a turkey I leave the woods. In the Terminator's voice, "I'll be back".
On a serious note, do you think I should go back to the same place on Friday but stay off a hundred yards or so from where I was, and call again?
Thanks for any tips.
Brett
Brett, I'd set up where he was GOING. When he flew down, did he gobble, or do you think you spooked him? How loud did you start calling in the morning? Did you use a decoy?
