New To Turkey hunting how do you guys get the spurs off the leg??? And what do you guys do with yours???
The whole trick is to cut off the legs at the leg joint, then let the legs "air DRY" for at least 2-3 months. They will get rock hard after that amount of time, which makes cutting off the spurs much easier. I use a band saw to cut my spurs off with, and it does an awesome job!! I try to get as close to the spur on each side of the cut. Much better way thanusing a hack saw, etc. Be sure to be very careful while doing this, you can loose some fingers in the process!!
P.S. Make sure that your pets or any other animals can't run off with them after you cut off the legs and are waiting for them to dry!! I keep them in my basement on top of the floor support beam. Works very well!!
