Default RE: Camo or Black Synthetic

No - camo guns are nothing more then clever marketing. The camo industry has convinced an entire generation of hunters that the latest mossy oak obsession bottomland break-up AP hd 3d MAX-1 garbage is necessary in order to kill a turkey and hunters fell for it hook-line-and sinker.

The best camo is to sit still in front of a tree larger than you, in the shade, wearing dark cloths or camo of your choice. The main thing is be still when the turkey is in sight. Of course wear gloves and a facemask. When it's cold I wearplain ol'brown jersey gloves and the turkeys don't seem to mind.

I do like guns that have a matt, non-shiney finish that is less likely to shine orreflect the sun.Camo or plain, I don't care. The gun I'm using now, a Mossberg 835 Ultimag,is camo. It was a gift to me from some customers we waterfowlguided for years from Wisconsin. It was a very generous gift and I love the way it shoots. Some people think it looks "cool" and that's fine.

Until recently switching tothe Mossberg I used a Remington 870 express with plain matt finish barrel and receiver and regular brown wood stock. I killed over 30 turkeys with that gun and none of them, to my knowledge, ever saw the non-camo gun that shot them.

So my advice is to get whatever you want. By all means buy a camo gun if you want it, but I truly don't think it gives you any advantage over a non-camo black one.
