Still seems dumb they had to kill the cat. The news thing never said the cat appeared to show agression or harmful acts towards people. Why couldn't they ahev called animal control and followed it till it was in need of being shot for safety reasons or control arrived and darted the cat. I'm not one to jump to conclusions when i dont know the whole story but im guessing the officers are glad they killed it and wanted to look like heros/be thefirst ones to kill a dangerous cat. Seems like a waste and a bigger deal was made of the situation than needed to be IMO. WCL
I agree WCL, they were obviously able to close enough to kill it with their handguns (I assume they used their sidearms at least), which means they were close enough to use the tranq. gun on it as well. Drug the cat and have the state dept of resources relocate the animal.
On a side note - is it known if a cougar will trace its way back to an area that it was previously moved from? I know bears are known to do it, but what about Cougars?
