Think it's pretty common to tune the bow to the arrow with a compound, just out of convience's sake.

That's what I meant Burnie. You have to tune the bow, but I don't try to tune the bow to the arrow. I tune my bow for the best performance/least hand shock/etc., then work on matching the arrow to the tuned bow.

Cutting a carbon from the back-end works in most cases, but in some you have to remover the inserts. Two I know of off the top of my head is when a person's release isn't good enough to bare-shaft (most beginners), or if you are shooting tapered carbons (like Grizzly Sticks).
