Hockey Gear for Sale: Gently used gloves, helmets, shin/elbow guards, sticks, pucks, balls, etc... Priced to sell.
Retirement imminent.
Camping weekend went great - caught a couple trout, drank some beers, thenI beat it home to play in tonight's spring hockey season opener. With about 5:00 to go in the second period, I drove the net - and a brilliant beer league hockey career came to an abrupt and unforgiving end when my knee conveniently exploded.
Okay, the career was less than "brilliant," but you get the idea. LMAO
Here are 2 pics of the scene of the crime - after they cut all the gear off and loaded me onto the gurney.
Note the patella- conveniently loaded on the SIDE of my left knee.
It didn't hurt all that bad, but sounded like somebody was ripping the drumstick off of the thanksgiving turkey when it happened. I was down like barbaro - and when I felta big lump of bonesticking out the side - I knew it was trouble. More of a nauseous feeling than anything.
Apparently, I was the first patient who ever requested somebody to go get his cell phone so that he could get a picture ofa hideous injurybefore everything went back into place. LOL
Relocating the kneecap was a fun time, as you can probablyimagine.
So now I'm here on the couch with my left leg on ice - elevated and immobilized. Apparently, i'm supposed to seek further medical treatment tomorrow, which I'm pretty stoked about. As it stands right now, I'm pretty fortunate that it wasn't worse. The MD on duty at the ER actually thinks that the injury was limited to my patellar tendon, and isn't nearly as bad as it looked (or felt).
