I agree 100%. My 2005 Hoyt Protec, at 38", has a level of forgiveness and consistency that I haven't been able to get out of any of the short bows. I just bought a Vectrix XL - I'm hoping it turns out to be as good of a bow as the Protec. The short bows, when your form is perfect, can shoot very well. But under field conditions, when you are running on four hours sleep, things can get a little uncertain.
