I've noticed I tend to call in larger birds with more aggressive callings, its when I become more passive that I tend to have Jakes come in.
I'm also wondering how this jives with your experiences bowhunting birds from last year and previous years going after them with the bow......since you said you passed on jakes.

Unless of course.....you hunt them the same way (be that stationary or mobile).

My buddy and me both shot birds, he shot a mature Gobbler, I shot a Jake. We called the exact same way, but a month a part. In MI the biggest birds tend to be shot later in the season. Maybe time of year has something to do with it.
