IMO....hunting turkeys with a bow (for the sake of this thread.....we're gonna be talking about hunting spring gobblers) is more of a passive approach to hunting them. It's also my opinion that the calling style has to mirror this.
I found myself becoming less and less vocal, last year, as the season progressed (my first real season of turkey calling).
What about you? I somewhat agree that each bird "can" be different. Dominance plays an issue........and where the bird you happen to be calling to fits into the pecking order (so to speak) may have a LOT to do with his aggressiveness.
But...."in general".......are you far more "passive" (calling) when bowhunting turkeys?
I'm the opposite. I am VERY aggressive, calling and running and gunning when I hunt spring gobblers. Just the way I learned I guess. It works for me. Another reason this maybe istrue, in MN we only get 5 days to hunt. You almost HAVE to be aggressive.
