In NC where I hunt it is legal but I don't dump corn or anything during season, I will hunt over crops and other food sources(whatever we want to call that).

In VA it is illegal to hunt over bait and any food sites must be cleared up 30 days before season. I do put out corn and horse/mule feed mixed with Imperial Whitetail 30-06 + Protein during the spring and summer. I call it my deer steroids program some others may call it supplemental feeding but since it is gone well before the season and doesn't get hunted over I wouldn't call it baiting.



Here is one definition of baiting, I guess we all may be guilty of this one.

2. To entice, especially by trickery or strategy.

In summary unless you kill a deer in his/her bed or walking to acorns or other naturally ocurring food sources which you have in no way planted or alteredyou are baiting, please report to your nearest game wardens office and turn yourself in if baiting is an illegal practice in your area.
