Default RE: Hunting Pranks

My step brother got my dad good a few years ago. He was tired of my Dad hunting up on a spot he was hunting on his 80 acres in Arkansas. He found a spot where he put up a deer camera and told pops all about it and said he saw some good sign. Sure enough dad went out and checked the spot and came home tellin Ma about a HUGE set of prints he found near Johnny's camera.

Dad kept asking Johnny if he got any pictures from that camera and after a few weeks Johnny put an old picture from an illinois scouting camera with a nice 10 point typical into a frame and gave it to pops with a card that said "Congrats Sam, welcome to your new huntin spot". Needless to say Dad hunted the spot all season long and never found the Monster in the pictures and even passed on a few small bucks. Dad kept saying that ole buck was coming through but never saw him in daylight and was Nocturnal.

I was down right before Christmas and knew going down that Johnny was up to no good, but had no idea what he did. Pops showed me the picture and later while drinking in Johnny's trapping shed I noticed a couple of walking sticks and asked why they were in the shed, he laughed and said they were his special walking sticks. I grabbed them and said to look at the bottom. Sure enough he carved out a couple of hoof prints that were huge with one being slightly longer and wider. I knew then that Dad was chasing a ghost!! Pops still talks about the Yelleville Monster and wonders if someone took him or poached him before he got the chance to take him. Sadly enough Dad hunted that tree the entire season and Johnny capitalized on his new found freedom.
