First Outdoor (this year) 3D today.
Wasn't sure I was going to get it done. No one from HNI was able to make it today. Nate and Renee called early and canceled as well.
Well, undecided to what to do I finally said I'm going. I'll connect with someone and shoot.
The weather was beautiful, I had to go.
It was a great shoot. I met up with a guy I know in the next town and shot with him and his friend.
40 targets (all center 12's) which was a pleasant surprise. Most shoots only consist of 30 targets anymore.
I shot two eights on the first 10 targets but I shot 6 12's.
The second 10 targets I shot clean, all 10's with 2 12's so the first half I was 12 up. Most targets were out to 35 yards in the woods.
I was very glad I shot that far up on the first half. The second half consisted of ALL field shots out to 50 yards. Most targets were 35 and over. There was a standing bear at 45 yards (10), an elk at 42 (10) and a caribou at 50 yards. (10). A Bison at 46 yards (10) and deer at 40 yards. They had a lion, alligator, and some other standard targets. I shot 3 8's on the back half and picked up 5 12's for 4 up on the second half for a total of 16 up or a 416.
212 + 204 = 416
My shooting companions didn't fair so well. This was a just for fun shoot and they didn't collect score cards. A twosome in front of us were using a rangefinder which I didn't agree with but it was just for fun. I don't know if I was high man for the day or not, like I said, it didn't matter. I had a great time and missed all you HNI'ers.
