Something is wrong. I have a new Legacy and it is smooth and quite with minimal vibration.

Check to see if the harmonic dampers are in place and if the string suppressors are making proper contact. If these are correct it should perform as you expect. If not take it back to the pro shop where you made your purchase and have it checked out.
