Default My son got his first bird W/pics

Well my son got his first bird yesterday. We had birds gobbling all around and went to the closest birds. When we got to where I thought that we could get in front of them, I saw them about 250 yards up the way. 1 tom, 4 jakes, and 1 hen. They were headed away from us so we high tailed a big circle to try and get in front, but they were at the property line already. Called a few times, but they were not leaving the hen that they could see. Tom strut'n! After they went off the property in the corner, we moved down there fast. I peeked over the fence and they were about 30 yards. My son asked if we could shoot them, I told him they don't know we are here and we'll see if we can do the imposssible, "bring back to a place they just left"! So we set up under a big oak tree about 15 yards away and started soft clucking and a couple yelps. After about 10 minutes I went to the fence to check and they were still there with the tom struting. This time, soft clucks, purrs, and some scraping of the leaves. I looked back behind us to find a gobbler coming in from behind. I wispered to my son the news and he wispered back that there was one in front of him. I said "Shoot 'em" and he did! It wasn't the Tom, but it's a start. He missed a huge 11+" bird last year at 20 yards and has been ready to redeem himself and get the monkey off his back. I was proud. 6" beard 3/8" spurs Here's a picture!
