My understanding is that it is very difficult to afford to hunt in Scotland or anywhere in the UK and that the gamekeeper is employed by the land owner and not the state.

I received permits to kill seven deer last season (gave up at four) and am just guessing that we have alot more deer here than Scotland ever will. I don't think reducing numbers is one of their goals for the most part.
