Guys, thanks for deeming this a good read.
I wrote this as a learning experience. It wasn't fun and I wasn't proud. Nobody likes to admit to a bad shot, especially to an entire internet hunting board. I wrote it basically in real time, not after knowing the end result. Was I worried about not recovering the deer? Sure I was, but I thought it would be a good chance to show others one way of approaching a situation like this. I'm glad it turned out the way it did though!

Boy that's an interesting perspective.....and I agree with it. I also congratulate you on your recovery.
I thought it might be cool to go through an entire season of shots and recoveries.....even the possibility/reality of a non-recovery. It wasn't met with the same attitude as your story.

GM, I joined here right after I had shot but not recovered a buck. One of the first threads I read was one of yours and boy you were getting it hard for not recovering your animal ... Needless to say, I lurkedbut didn't tell my story
