Default RE: Winchester pre 64?

found a Winchester model 70 pre 64, I think the store owner told me that it is was made in 1949, with an old Weaver 4 power scope. It looked to be in good condition, small nick in the forearm was about the worstspot on it. What is a gun like this worth? He told me he would take $650.00 for it, is that a fair price?

W/O pictures it is hard to say whether I would buy it or notbut as an example I was supposed to buy a 300 H&H pre64 2 years ago. WHen I finally got to the gunsmith and looked the gun over I decided against it, there was just too much blueing missing and the stock was not all that great. My best friend then purchased the gun for a 1000 . It's worth 1500-2000 depending and from all indications stay there or go up incrementally.

function ResizeTextArea(){
// return;
var TextArea = document.getElementById("body1");
var sX = document.body.clientWidth;
var sY = document.body.clientHeight;
var sppp = 350;
if (TextArea){
TextArea.style.width = (sX-200>=450)? (sX-200) +'px' : '450px';
if (sY=300)? '270px': (sY-sppp
