I was out yesterday walking with my wife - of course I was walking on the north side of the road where the snow had melted. Still too much snow in the woods to walk there yet (unless you ski or snow shoe). I saw an antler sticking up out of the dried leaves. Look at that I said, when my wife said that's a deer head! Sure enough it was, with a nice rack. As I approached it I knew there was something wrong. The head was cut off and mounted on plywood -It was a mount! It was badly decomposed and falling apart. I grabbed the whole styrofoam head and brought it home. Even stranger it was a mule deer rack. No mule deer in Northern Wisconsin. We speculated on why some one would ditch a mount. Maybe divorce?
