Yeah, I really want to hunt with the 308. I inherited the gun from my wife's dad. It's an older Remington model 700 gamemaster pump action with a 1:12 barrell twist. From other research I've done, I don't think the 1:12 twist allows me to hold accuracy with 180 grain. We will be hunting spot n stalk with no guide. Washington state voters in their tree-hugging wisdom banned hounds and bait about 5 years ago.
