dad and i went and brought home a adult treeing walker...wasnt from the pound, but might as well have been! guy had him chained up out back..GAVE him to us FREE. said he wanted to be a coon hunter but never had the time...only coon that dog ever saw was a nasty ole pelt that the dog carried around the back yard since he was a pup.

who knows what dad was thinkin, but we brought that sorry ole Walker dog home with us...

dad showed him a caged coon and that was the only training it took...he was a pure coon dog no doubt about it. ive since ran with a pile of coonhounds and i would still to this day put him up against any of them...and ive ran with a pile of grand nite champions and real good dogs.

he was just a natural coon hound i guess....he was one of those once in a lifetime hounds i think....still cant believe how it all played out...all the odds were against us...that dog should probably never treed a coon for us...just usually dont happen...if you dont train them as a pup and all their life, chances are great that its just gunna be a mangy ole mutt that doesnt hunt....
