RE: Another choke question - finicky BPS
quax;
You have tried a lot of different chokes, but it appears that you have only tried a couple/three shells to go with them. You can usually find a sweet shooting load for every choke, but sticking with one load that doesn't do so hot out of your gun, irregardless of choke, is limiting your potential a bit in my opinion. Those Winchester #5s you are shooting and your BPS might just not jive well together.
However, as others have written, 80 in a 10" at 40 yards is nothing too terrible. Especially when you consider you are shooting #5s.
As you experienced, going up in payload and down in shot-size made quite a difference when it came to # of hits in your circle. Rather than spending another $50 or even more dollars on choke tubes, I'd go spend $50 on some different makes/sizes/loads of shells. With all the chokes you have, you ought to be able to get at least two attempts with each. That may very well help you find what is going to work better than what you have now. If it is sheer numbers of pellets you are looking for inside a 10" circle, then you'll no doubt be better off with #6 shot. But do remember, that its not just the pellets inside that circle that matter... keep the big picture in mind.... if you get excessive flyers, or strings and clusters of pellets, then you may want to consider something else.
