Default RE: Fl turkey hunters?

Well I just finished a 9 day hunting tour that included 3 WMAs and some private land. 6 birds were taken. Here is my analysis.... The gobblers have been ready for a month, strutn and gobbl'n. The hens seem to have just started this past week, which means the gobblers will be hard pressed to leave the hens. There are a great number of birds, complements of a drought the past couple years allowing more hatchings. Most Toms will be taken in the presence of a hen right now, but there are a couple starting to stray. Seeing a lot of single hens the last couple days. I'd say that in about a week when, less hunters are in the woods and when more hens have been bread, the Toms are going to be a llittle easier to persuade for a visit with some #5's. Don't be quick to head out of the woods by 9am as a lot of action will take place after that when they are left alone by their roosted girlfriends. Thats my take, one more week and it is going to be really active!
