RE: low poundage causing trouble
I shoot my spot bow up at 58 pounds because the round wheels don't have a hard wall to pull up against and the higher poundage makes for a crisper release. It's quite a bit more accurate for me to shoot at higher poundage because it helps my form. As far as the bow goes... I'd have to have a shooting machine to find out. Your TomKat has fixed limb pockets so I wonder if it's a matter of seating the limbs deeper in the pockets, getting the deflection point on your arrows or if it's better form that's causing your better shooting? It's likely a combination of the above.
