Default RE: 243 vs. 25-06

Your not alone with that assumption.I load 120gr Hornady HP's on top of 54gr of H4831SC and Fed mag primers in Win brass. They always exit any deer so far broadside and 3/4 of the way through a med sized black bear last spring. The late Bob Milek [G+A]shot lots of deer and elk with his .257 Roberts.I talked to the boys at Hornady about this bullet and they had sucessfully tested it on elk.So did my son on his meat bull.Blew right through at 400 yards.A lady friend of ours used a .257 Weatherby Mag on moose every fall with great results.Fed stoutly constructed bullets and someone who can shoot you'll be enjoying steaks.I like Jack O'Conner's quote of the mythical Indian guide that said " any gun good gun ,if you shoot straight".He wasn't a proponent of 1/4 mile shooting either.Elmer Keith was but he had the good sense to use a magnum. They didn't see eye to eye on a good day.........JMO Harold
