RE: all or nothing?
It is exciting shooting a big deer. I am fortunate enough to hunt in an area that is trying to reduce the deer population so I can shoot a fawn or a doe and not have to wait years between deer. (I have not filled my antler tag for three years) I do pass on small bucks but I don't study them to the point of being able to tell how big a buck is. If it looks big to me, then it will go down if my shooting is good.
I have shot two big bucks, a 136 & 146, and they were four years apart. The 2008 season shoul be another good one if the trend continues.
Most every one in our group has now shot at least a nice buck. I'm going to put pressure on the rest of the party to shoot more does and let smallish bucks walk. We all will get a shot at larger bucks if we all do this. It is possible to have an area where you could shoot a big deer every year if only the little ones were allowed to grow.
