I've hunted caribou in Alaska ( barren ground), Northwest Territories ( central Canada Barren ground) and Quebec ( Quebec Labrador)...

All of my Alaska hunts have been DIY drop hunts...These hunts can be a wonderful wilderness experience, but they can also be a nightmare if you are not prepared, both physically and mentally... Much of the Alaskan tundra does not lend itself well to bowhunting...Lots of wide open spaces without much stalking/ambush cover...

The NWT hunts are great hunts... Not a lot of outfitters there, but they tend to be honest and well organized... If money is not a factor, NWT would be my first choice... I hunted with Adventure Northwest... Other good oufits are McKay Lake Lodge and Barry Taylor, but I've never heard much negative stuff about any outfitters up there...

Quebec has LOTS of outfitters...Some are honest and well organized, and it has it's share of fly-by-nighters and crooks... A couple of good choices are Jack Hume Adventures and Tuttilick... Cover in much of northern Quebec tends to lend itself to good bowhunting..Excellent odds of getting big bulls here..

I've never hunted Newfoundland.. I have heard that caribou numbers are dropping in some areas and nonresident tags may become more expensive or may not even be issued in some areas.. Woodland caribou are not migratory, which increases your chances in some areas..Newfoundland is a good place to bowhunt... One minus is that while body size is large, antlers onwoodland bulls are MUCH smaller than other species... An average bull of any other species will DWARF a B&C woodland rack, and the racks that most of my friends who hunted there have brought back from there looked like cow caribou antlers of other species...
