Probably SOP...but when I hunted lock-ons.....I never let my haul line/bow touch the ground. I always tied it so it would be at eye level.
It's funny you should mention that Jeff. I always haul my pull ropeup, but I had a buddy kill a 160's buck and he was pulling on the haul line with his mouth. I guess it was his time to Go!! I've had deer (No Big Bucks) play and flip my tree steps with their nose. Funny!!

My biggest Pet Peeve is scent control and I go to all lengths to neutralize my scent as much as possible. I also hunt the wind and try to never be sloppy.
