My Muzzy Phantom SS weighs 220 grains .
Bruce you got me beat, I just built some 200gr Magnus 2 blades! Sure do pack a wallop!
When I take the bleeder out of the Muzzy then it weighs 200 grains (and is 2 blade too)and I hunted with some of those too. I also have some arrows with a 100 grain brass insert and use a 125 grain broadhead on that for 225 grains. Of course those arrows only leave the bow doing a screaming 233fps LOL. No excessive speed there
Are you talking about these http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=57&s=47&p=257&i=0255? I was thinking about trying some of the 50 grain inserts. Do they work well, arrow-flight wise?
Yes, those are what I use. I also have some of the 50grain inserts. What they do is increase your FOC and that can help your arrow, flight-wise but, with that said, if your bow and arrow are tuned and tuned together then you should have optimum flight regardless of the type of insert used. The increased FOC really helps the penetration, though, and that is my reason for using heavy inserts/broadheads/high FOC.
