On my Excal one end goes over the end of the bow, and the other end over the other end, then you pull the string like you are going to cock the bow it will pull up about 4" and cock, which will release tension on the string so it can be removed and replaced. Then with the Excals youlet the tension offof the stringer with your hand slowly, just pull back on the stringing device and holding it hit the trigger with your thumbslowly let your bow return to its orginal position, then remove your stringing device.
