Default RE: Bow with only 4" of drop from 0-32yds.

ORIGINAL: huntingson

I have one pin out to 30 yards. Couple inches high at 10, couple low at 30. My bow is shooting only 274fps. Remember that the arrow has an initial velocity in the positive z-direction and gravity must first bring that initial velocity to zero, and then it would begin to actually drop. I bet your calculations are not taking that into account.
Bingo...and I had never taken into acount that either untill someone pointed it out to me a few weeks ago. I just ran the numbers....and neglecting air resistance you get that 4" window (2" high max at 14 yds, 2" low at 32) at (corrected p 4). Now we are not shooting in a vaccum, so air resistance(which varies greatly with arrow type) probably makes significantly higher....but possible...I learn something new every day!
