I bought a P A hunter on Gunbroker. I got it today The gun looks good the barrel is clean. The problen is the hammer will not snap the frizzen forward. The hammer out of the gun snapes it just fine installed it will just move it off the pan. The other problen is I cannot move the screw to replace the flint very small slot screw drivere bit I don't think it was ever removed. I think it is going to go back to the seller. I sure can't use it the way it is.
A simple fix would be to use a pair of vice-grips to remove the flint jaw screw, then replace the screwwith a new one, (easily obtained from T/C) if the marks from the vice-grips bother you. I'll bet with a new flint of the correct size in the cock, the frizzen will snap open properly when you shoot....... One of my flinters doesn't always snap open all the way, but it does move the frizzen far enough for the sparks to fall on the priming charge in the pan, so it fires OK!
I always drill a pin hole through the "knob" on the jaw screw so I can tighten and loosen the screw by sticking a piece of steel thru it to hold on to rather than using a screw driver. That way, the screw slot stays unmarred.....
