Boy did I get a deserved thrashing! All the above reasons are good ones to reply. I guess I am wondering how we know that the person who asked the question is even still listening. I am all for helping newbies and " lurkers" , but what is the process? When someone emails you a question, do you email them back and tell them where to find the post? Otherwise how do you know they even find/view the question/answers?

If I know that the person who asked will be watching the answers, then sure it is a worthwhile thing. Also, you are correct, it does start some interesting disscussions. Just seems like there are an awful lot of them.
