Despite the weather I had so at least fire a few rounds and see if the new barrel would work OK.
Just to think a couple days ago my son & I were fishing at the local lake!
And today it looked like this outdoors!!!!
I didn't walk clear to the shooting range (in the valley about 400 yards straight ahead)
but decided to fire a few shots offhand at the butt end of a log instead.
The two in the center (where I was aiming) were the first two shots with a 250 gr Lee REAL
and 80 gr T-7 ffg @ only about 50 feet. I then stepped back to about double the distance and
tried 1 REAL (high left) and 1 orange saboted .457 cast 350 gr bullet (low left).
I was happy to see I was "on paper" and the rifle/barrel will shoot.
Got home and cleaned the rifle, then noticed I only had 1/2 the fiber optic strand left in the front sight.
I'll call GMB tomorrow and see if I can get a replacement, in the mean time I guess I'll just have to
postpone further testing until I get the replacement f/o strand. Guess I'll miss a lot of fun since the
snow will all be gone by the time I get it fixed!
BTW - walking wasn't all that bad today. There's a thick crust of ice on top of the first 6" of snow
from freezing rain/sleet and another couple inches of snow on top of that. The crust will support my
weight, and the snow on top gives some traction.
