I shot a big ole girl a couple years ago in the snow, and she wasn't my biggest ever, but the biggest I have a pic of. My biggest ever was actually one of the biggest deer I've ever seen, body-wise, and I'd bet she weighed close to 300# on hoof, HONEST TO GOD, unfortunately or maybe fortunately, I left her lay going to get help to drag her out and by the time I made it back to her, probably a 30minute trip, some JACKHOLES stole her. This doe was about 155-165 dressed.
good lord OH, a doe like your biggest one isn't much smaller than the elk I killed!!
Did you fling arrows at the jackholes?
Cuz it woulda been ON!
Nah, no arrows at the thieves, it was a gun season kill, and there were at least 3 different boot prints and some obvious slipping and sliding getting her moved 100 or so yards to the creek, then I'm guessing they just floated her down the creek, because it was a deep ravine I killed her in.
As to that big ole doe, I owed her one, she blew me out mid-draw on a great 170-180 class buck, just as he was walking behind a big old oak, and getting ready to enter a shooting lane at only 18yds from my tree. I, obviously, never got that shot off on that big ole monster, and for that matter, never saw him again. She was the herd "matriarch," and I'd watched her "tend" her herd for 2 full season when she made a fateful mistake on that snowy morning when SHE was my prime target above all other deer in the woods since I had no buck tag. That morning hunt when I took her was probably my most memorable hunt, as I got to watch her bound 75 yds through the woods with a pink mist blowing out both sides of her to her death bed. I ended up with nearly 90# of meat off of her. [:-]
