Default RE: Elitist attitude

'One quick question for you Ranger. Do you understand why some people like myself have a problem with these xbows being locked and ready to be shot unlike my recurve? This is my only problem with them. Do you understand why it might bug me some? For crying out loud you put the scope on the animal and pull a trigger!! Is that bow hunting? I thought we were suppose to draw our bows back, not have them locked and loaded like a gun. I guess I don't understand this and to me its the farthest thing from bow hunting being it has limbs and a string. That picture that wyvern put up with the compound and the prod, thats not bow hunting to me either! Is that picture bow hunting to you?"

I will let Ranger answer himself, but I had tosay something...NO...I DONT understand what your problem is... Keep in mind here that I generaly shoot a long bow..

Some "archer" with a compound puts hisdrawn bow on his knee and puts his "scope"(yes, they have magnified scopes for compounds...and red dots, and lasers) and "pulls his trigger". Big hairy wow....whatdid that archer( or the guy with a crossbow)doto you to prevent you from using your recurve??? So it does not fit your style of hunting and your choice of equipment....Till I see a "No Recurve or Long Bow" sign somewhere this in no way effects your ability to hunt as you want. All you are doing is stamping your feet and demanding that you have the woods to yourself and the deer to yourself and that there should be some law to prevent modern archery equipment from being in the woods while you are there. Well...The time for that was back when compounds first came out and WAY too many traditional hunters embraced them and you all lost your chance.

So, instead of whining about what archery is and is not to "you" you have a few choices: Buy your own land...lease a private hunting range...walk a bit farther into the woods than the next guy...OR...get out your trusty pen and paper and petition for a "primitive season" in your state and get the laws changed to what suits you. If that cant happen go back to my other suggestions and stop crying...its archery...deal with it. It is not your choice of equipment, and it is not how it used to be done, but ultimatly no one wiht a compound or crossbow is forcing you to put down your recurve...just like no one is stopping me from going out with my long bow next September.
