RE: Elitist attitude
"Heck no, not even close if you ask me!!"
Sorry...but by every definition of what a "bow is" that is a bow and that is archery. At this point the ONLY diferance between this "archer" and one holding a crossbow is that the crossbow is holding 8 lbs of string tension less that this guy is. Now, when the arrow releases, the compound BOW shooter in that photo is going to be more accurate than the crossbow and be able to take animals at longer distance than ANY crossbow on the market. AND he is LEGALY BOWHUNTING!! Sooo...that IS archery, it is not what alot of us would use, or even feel is fair, but it IS archery. Face it...if compounds are considered archery, then crossbows should be considered archery. THAT is the main issue here...if you allow compounds with all that crap attached to it then you have no real reason to block crossbows. If there was a primitive only season where I could go out with my longbow (or my "primitive crossbow" ) and hunt without seeing a compound then fine, but when I see training wheels on 99% of the "bows" I see in the woods on opening day of "bow season" thenI want the ability to take a modern crossbow and go into the woods as well since there is not enough actual diferance to justify them being segregated from the rest of archery....
