If you need to defend yourself you are 100% better with it than without it. But, keep in mind I've seen alot of these guns, and have taken alot of them off thugs in the street, including one who was trying to shoot another guy (over a car stereo) and the gun wouldn't go off.

Shoot it, learn it, and practice clearing malfunctions.
