RE: ruger m77 hawkeye reviews
I was looking at one in 7mm Mag but i got a Tikka instead. I likedthe way the Tikka fit me alot betterand the trigger is better on the Tikka. As for the barrel heating up any guns barrle will heat up quickly with any round as large or larger then a 30-06. If you want a gun to take to the range for fun get a 223, 204, 22-250, 22lr, 22 Mag, 17 HMR, or similar rounds for fun. The larger hunting rounds will make the barrels heat up quickly nomatter if its 30 degrees or 90 degrees outside. I shoot 100+ rounds out of my 22 Mag or 17 HMR at a time without the barrel getting too hot. My 204 has a pencil thin barrel and i can shoot around 10 shots before i have to let it cool.
